GDPR | General Data Protection Regulation

The EU has introduced the GDPR to update and harmonise data protection practices across the EU. It will apply from 25 May 2018.

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and the government have confirmed that they expect UK Salons to adhere to the GDPR. In fact, a new UK Data Protection Act (currently the Bill is going through Parliament) will incorporate all of the GDPR as well introducing some new provisions. This is so the UK will be GDPR compliant post Brexit.

As a self-employed Stylist or a Salon Owner, you need to take action. Fines for non compliance are expected to be high!  Remember, this covers information you hold about your clients and your staff – whether held electronically or on paper.

The nhf have put together a really good intro to GDPR:
